About Me

Hi! My name is Danielle, and that’s my baby Luna I’m hugging in the above picture.  If you look through some of my blog posts, you will see her adorable face many times (along with some other furry friends) as she loves to help me in the kitchen and sample anything she can get her paws on 🙂  If you’re wondering about the title of the blog, I was trying to be creative and make a play on words of “Kibbles and Bits”.  In case you have never heard the term “vittles” it’s slang for “victuals” which is an older word for “food”.   Hence, “vittles and bits” works for me, since I love both food and dogs (who eat kibble).

I recently graduated with undergraduate degrees in Nutrition & Dietetics and Communication Studies, and am now completing this crazy and wonderful journey called a Dietetic Internship, at the end of which I will take my exam, and become an official Registered Dietitian. So obviously, I love food. And I super love delicious food that is also healthy and nourishing.   If you look through the recipes on my blog, you’ll see that not all of them are “healthy”, but I am a firm believer in keeping your life (and your diet) balanced.  I try to eat well most of the time, but you have to indulge a bit, right?  This is a place where I share my culinary adventures with the world, in the hopes that I can inspire some of you to roll up your sleeves, play in the kitchen, and try something new, all in the name of Health and Happiness.

If you like the recipes and other posts you see on this blog, please follow along on Twitter @DanielleMasland and Pinterest (Healthy Vittles and Bits).  And of course, if you have any nutrition questions that you would like to see addressed on the blog, just contact me and let me know, either by leaving a comment on a blog post or by leaving a direct message on Twitter!

  1. Hey Danielle! I think it’s wonderful that you’re becoming a dietitian – what a fulfilling career path. Like you, I eat healthy most of the time. I do like an occasional treat, however. I love your blog and will be trying your avocado cookies soon! Thanks for following! Celeste 🙂
