On our way out of Tennessee down to Louisiana we stopped at Fat Mama’s for some of her famous tamales. They were very good, but not quite what I was expecting. When I spent the summer in Mexico a few years ago, we had tamales every Wednesday, and they were so delicious – stuffed with veggies and chicken and served with a big spoonful of fresh salsa. Here, they were much smaller and stuffed with what I think was Chorizo (spicy sausage). They were good, but I would’ve much preferred chicken and veggies.
We also tried the “knock ya naked” margaritas, which were excellent.
All in all, Fat Mama’s = a quality establishment.
